Live broadcasts at athletic events are controlled via the board in the studio and a RODEcaster at the field/stadium. The board connects and disconnects the broadcasters from the airwaves, plays commercials during breaks, and communicates start and stop times with the broadcasters and producer. After the event, the one who manages the board-op is responsible for cutting highlights of the broadcasters for them to build their portfolios.
